This editorial policy explains how recipes and guides on RecipeFab are written, checked and updated, so you know what to expect from every post and where the information comes from. For limits on nutrition estimates, food safety and allergies, see our disclaimer.
Who writes RecipeFab
RecipeFab is an independent home-cooking site run by Junaid Khan, who writes and edits every recipe and guide. You can read more on the About page.
AI tools help with research and first drafts. Every post is reviewed by Junaid before it is published, and the facts in it are checked against the sources it links to.
How recipes are written
- Every recipe lists exact amounts, realistic prep and cook times, and step-by-step instructions written in plain language.
- Each post explains why the method works, the most common mistakes, sensible substitutions, and how to store and reheat leftovers.
- We do not invent personal stories, reviews, star ratings or cooking experience. Drafts are researched and written with help from AI writing tools, then reviewed and edited before they are published. If a detail cannot be backed up, it does not go on the page.
- Ingredients are chosen to be easy to find at a regular grocery store, with alternatives noted where they make a real difference.
Ingredient standards
Every RecipeFab recipe follows a fixed ingredient standard. Where a traditional version of a dish uses an ingredient outside that standard, we use a clearly named alternative (for example, beef or turkey versions of cured meats).
Food safety
Safe cooking temperatures and storage times follow U.S. government guidance from FoodSafety.gov, the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) and the FDA, mainly the FoodSafety.gov safe minimum internal temperature chart and the FoodSafety.gov guidance on leftovers. Where a recipe depends on doneness (poultry, ground meat, egg dishes), we say what to check for rather than relying on cooking time alone.
Nutrition information
Nutrition facts on our recipes are calculated from ingredient data in USDA FoodData Central, never guessed or copied from other sites. The full method is explained on our nutrition information page. Values are estimates for general information only and are not medical or dietary advice.
Sources and links
When a post relies on outside facts, such as food-safety rules, nutrition data or the background of a dish, we link to the original source. We prefer government and other primary sources (USDA, FDA, CDC) and reference works such as Wikipedia for history and definitions. We do not link to other recipe blogs as sources.
Images
Photos on RecipeFab are there to show what the finished dish should look like. Featured photos on RecipeFab are licensed stock photos from Unsplash or Pexels that show the same or a very similar dish, credited at the end of each post. A few older posts still use AI-generated illustrations, and those are being replaced. They are not photos of a specific batch we cooked, so your result may look slightly different.
How We Develop and Check Recipes
- Each recipe starts from established home-cooking methods. We write ingredient amounts in standard US measures and check that every step has a clear time, temperature or doneness cue.
- Prep, cook and total times on the recipe card are added up from the steps themselves, including resting, rising, chilling, cooling and cooking in batches.
- Safe cooking temperatures, storage times and handling advice are checked against official sources such as FoodSafety.gov, USDA FSIS and the FDA, and linked in the post.
- Nutrition is calculated from USDA FoodData Central, as explained on our nutrition method page.
- When a recipe has been cooked and photographed by us, the post says so and shows our own photo. Other posts use a credited stock photo.
